WASHINGTON – Ford Motor Co. is recalling approximately 5,500 2012 model-year Ford Edge crossover vehicles equipped with 2.0L engines because of a fuel leak risk, the NHTSA reported.

The recall covers certain Edge vehicles manufactured from Sept. 2, 2010 through Oct. 31, 2011. The fuel line pulse damper metal housing may crack because of a flaw in the manufacturing process. This could result in a combination of fuel odor, seepage or a continuous leak while the fuel system is pressurized. Such a condition poses a fire risk, the NHTSA said.

Ford dealers will repair the vehicles free of charge. Edge owners can reach Ford at 1-866-436-7332.
