The 2017 model-year General Motors fleet product preview took place in San Antonio, Texas, from May 9 to 11. GM kicked off its annual product meeting buoyed by 30 consecutive months of commercial fleet sales growth.

In addition to strong commercial fleet sales, GM has also been experiencing strong government fleet sales. For example, sales to the federal government were up 27% at the time of the meeting.

Attending the product preview were almost 900 fleet managers and fleet suppliers, who were given product update presentations by high-level GM leaders. The turnout was larger than the previous year’s product preview.

Later, attendees had the opportunity to participate in a ride-and-drive, which featured more than 150 vehicles, and visit with GM suppliers, who were exhibiting their latest products and services.

With the ongoing strong demand for trucks sales in the fleet market, GM’s return to the medium-duty truck market was a key topic of discussion at the product preview. GM views the medium-duty fleet market as a growth opportunity with delivery, landscaping, and service fleets.
