The 2013 Automotive Fleet & Leasing Association (AFLA) Conference was held Sept. 10-13, 2013, at the Westin Kierland Resort, in Scottsdale, Ariz. The event smashed previous records with more than 450 attendees, more than 250 members, and 13 educational sessions.

This year featured some special pre-conference events, including a Women in Fleet Management (WIFM) session on personal branding and two additional sessions on alternative-fuel vehicles and generational diversity.

The conference kicked off on September 11, with Lt. Col. (Ret.) Rob "Waldo" Waldman presenting a rousing keynote speech on never flying solo based on his experience as a combat pilot.

Additional sessions covered the legislative forecast, future of vehicle engineering and maintenance, and resale marketing trends and direction. The evening was capped off with the Automotive Fleet Hall of Fame and Professional Fleet Manager of the Year, and Fleet Financials Fleet Executive of the Year awards.

Finally, Tom Callahan of Donlen passed the AFLA presidential gavel to John Dmochowsky of Mondelez.
