COSTA MESA, CA – Hyundai is adding Google Maps to its Blue Link telematics platform. The Blue Link telematics will now allow features such as Send to Car (i.e. send a destination to the vehicle from another device), Point of Interest Search and Local Search by Voice. Hyundai said these services are designed to help drivers find places of interest and navigate to destinations more easily as Google continuously updates its “Places” database, which is used by Google Maps.

“We’re always looking for ways to make it easier for people to discover more relevant information to help them make informed choices — whether that's where to go for a coffee, or where to take dry cleaning,” said Tarun Bhatnagar, head of Enterprise Geo at Google. “It’s great to see that more drivers now have access to fresh, web-based content while on the go with the Hyundai Blue Link Google Maps integration.”

Hyundai plans to have a reception at the 2013 Consumer Electronics Show on January 10 at an exhibit featuring the automaker’s Blue Link telematics platform.
