WASHINGTON – Honda is recalling more than 807,000 Acura MDX (2003-2006 MY), Honda Odyssey (2003-2004 MY) and Honda Pilot (2003-2004 MY) vehicles, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reported.

A faulty interlock lever of the ignition switch may allow these vehicles to roll away if their ignition key is removed when they’re not shifted to the park position. The interlock lever of the ignition switch may deform, NHTSA said, which can allow the interlock function of a vehicle with automatic transmission to be defeated.

To remedy the problem, Honda and Acura dealers will install an updated shift interlock lever and, if necessary, replace the ignition switch. There will be no charge for this service.

The recall is expected to get under way around Feb. 7. Owners can reach Honda at 1-800-999-1009.
