WASHINGTON – The Alternative Fuels Data Center (AFDC), a resource of the U.S. Department of Energy's Clean Cities program and administered by the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, has developed a new tool to help fleets reduce petroleum consumption and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.
Fleets can go online to the AFDC website to create a comprehensive reduction plan by using several savings methods. Users plug in their current annual petroleum use and then set a petroleum reduction goal by percentage and total gallons reduced.
If your fleet includes multiple vehicle types, you can add more vehicles to each of the following method categories:
- Replacing vehicles.
- Using alternative fuels in existing vehicles.
- Reducing idling.
- Reducing mileage.
- Driving efficiently.
The tool is available at www.afdc.energy.gov/prep.
