Turtle Top, an Indiana-based manufacturer specializing in fleet vehicles built on Chevrolet, Ford and Freightliner chassis, is recalling 577 2006-2010 model-year transit buses equipped with wheelchair lifts.

The recall covers Turtle Top's Ford Odyssey, Ford Van Terra and Terra Transport transit buses that are equipped with Braun Century-2 or Vista-2 wheelchair lifts, according to the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration. Over time, the roll stop latches on the outer barrier of the wheelchair lift may become bent or misaligned. This poses a safety risk for wheelchair-using occupants when the lift platform is in an elevated position.

Authorized Braun dealers will make the necessary repairs free of charge. Vehicle owners can reach Turtle Top at 574-831-4340 for more information.

This recall follows another recall for wheelchair lifts earlier this year. Braun recalled a total of 21,412 Braun Century-2 and Vista-2 lifts for the issue with the roll stop latches. The company began the recall on March 30, 2012.
