HOUSTON - British Petroleum (BP) is recalling unleaded regular gasoline that was shipped from its Whiting, Indiana fuel storage terminal between August 13th and 17th. BP stated that a 50,000-barrel batch of gasoline had a higher level of polymeric residue, which can cause hard starting, stalling, and other drivability issues. Drivers in Chicago, Milwaukee, and Northwest Indiana areas could have potentially purchased this fuel from retail outlets in those areas.

The company stated that it has established a process for working with customers whose vehicles require repair as a result of driving a vehicle with the contaminated fuel. The company has a website, www.bpresponse.com, for drivers whose vehicles fuel quality issue in the areas where the fuel was distributed. The company also set up a customer hotline and email address for this issue, 1-800-333-3991 or [email protected].
