WASHINGTON – Ford Motor Co. is recalling 16,330 2011-2012 model-year Transit Connect vehicles because of a potential problem with the windshield wipers, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reported.

The wiper arms may not be adequately riveted. As a result, the wiper arm might not operate properly and might even detach. This condition could compromise the driver’s visibility.

Ford dealers will replace the driver and passenger-side wiper arm and blade assemblies free of charge. The safety recall is expected to get under way this week.

Vehicle owners can reach Ford at 1-866-436-7332.
