WASHINGTON – Mercedes-Benz USA is recalling more than 3,600 2007-2009 model-year E350 4MATIC wagons because a connecting rod for the load-leveling rear suspension system may fail and cause a loss of vehicle control.

The vehicles covered in this safety recall were all manufactured from July 1, 2006 through April 30, 2009, the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration said.

To remedy the problem, dealers will inspect and, if necessary, replace the level-control connecting rod. There will be no charge for this service.

The recall is expected to get under way in August.

Vehicle owners can reach Mercedes-Benz at (201) 573-0350.
