WASHINGTON – General Motors is recalling 47,846 2011-2012 model-year Buick Enclave, Chevrolet Traverse and GMC Acadia crossover SUVs that are currently registered in states known for harsh winter weather.

Snow or ice buildup on the windshield or wiper of these vehicles may restrict the movement of the wiper arm, potentially leading to wiper arm loosening or failure. This poses a threat to driver visibility and overall safety, reported the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

To remedy the problem, GM dealers will tighten the wiper arm nuts. There will be no charge for this service. GM is notifying affected vehicle owners of the recall.
