WASHINGTON – Nissan North America is recalling 8,120 2003-2004 model-year Infiniti M45 vehicles because of a potential problem with the fuel gauge.

The vehicles covered by the recall were all manufactured from March 7, 2002 through June 3, 2004. Because of a circuit board failure, the fuel gauge may read a fuel level higher than it actually is. As a result, the vehicle may run out of gas without notice.

Nissan will notify owners of the recall, and dealers will modify the circuit board free of charge. The recall is expected to begin in mid-April, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reported.

Vehicle owners can reach Nissan at (800) 647-7261.
