WASHINGTON – Fire rescue truck manufacturer E-One is recalling 80 model-year 2010 and 2011 vehicles because of a potential problem with door handle mount brackets. The faulty mount brackets could lead to doors springing open unexpectedly in the event of a crash, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reported.

The recall covers 2010 and 2011 MY Typhoon, Cyclone II and Tradition firefighting vehicles – all manufactured from Jan. 1, 2010 through July 1, 2011 – that are equipped with Trimark door latch mount bracket kits (part numbers 28141-01 and 28142-01). If the mounting fasteners aren’t at proper torque value, the outside door handle mount bracket could rotate out of position. As a result, the door may not stay closed and could open without warning during a crash.

E-One is working with Trimark, which will notify vehicle owners using E-One letterhead. Necessary repairs will be performed free of charge by E-One service centers or by Trimark personnel.
