DEARBORN, MI – Ford Motor Co. announced its sales figures for March, citing a 29 percent increase in fleet sales that momth when compared with the previous year. The automaker said commercial fleet sales were up 50 percent, government fleet sales up 30 percent, and daily rental up 13 percent.

First quarter 2011 fleet sales were up 8 percent in total for Ford. Commercial fleet sales were up 34 percent, government fleet sales were up 11 percent, and daily rental fleet sales were down 8 percent.

Sales of Ford’s F-Series truck totaled 53,272, up 25 percent compared with a year ago. Ford’s commercial vehicles also posted year-to-year increases. Econoline sales totaled 11,827, up 13 percent, and Transit Connect sales were 2,690, up 47 percent.
