GM provided a video explanation of its eAssist technology.

DETROIT – GM stated the fuel economy of its 2012 Buick LaCrosse with eAssist, a luxury sedan that can seat five adults, delivers 37 mpg highway, 25 in city driving.

The automaker said these ratings await EPA certification. GM’s eAssist technology provides additional horsepower via an electric motor-generator and a gauge display (which GM calls its “ECO” gauge) designed to help drivers improve fuel economy. The eAssist system will also be available on the Buick Regal in late 2011, according to GM.
