HONOLULU, HI - GreenCar Hawaii was recently awarded a $200,000 grant to introduce electric vehicles to car-sharing services within the hospitality industry. The company provides on-demand and self-serve access to clean energy vehicles directly from hotel and timeshare properties.

"We are very excited about being able to add four to six EVs to our current hybrid fleet," said Justin MacNaughton, who co-founded GreenCar Hawaii with Warren Doi. "Visitors to Hawaii will get the chance to personally see and feel how an EV operates and take that experience home, and Hawaii will have fewer cars operating on fossil fuel on the road. It's a good boost in the right direction."

MacNaughton said the company plans on installing three to four charging stations at partner hospitality locations.

The grant was issued by Hawaii's EV Ready Grant Program, established to speed up market acceptance of EVs and related charging equipment.
