PRINCETON, NJ – Sometimes doing the same thing year after year isn’t boring at all; in fact, it can be downright rewarding. For the third straight year, NAFA Fleet Management Association will be participating in a Habitat for Humanity project to kick off its annual conference. Held April 9-12 in Charlotte, North Carolina, the volunteer project presents the perfect way for fleet managers to get into the spirit of NAFA’s 2011 Institute & Expo (I&E).

Fleet managers from throughout North America will be rolling up their sleeves and picking up paint brushes and hammers as they help make a difference in the local Charlotte community. NAFA began its participation with Habitat for Humanity in 2009 when volunteers helped build homes in Katrina-ravaged New Orleans and continued the following year in Detroit.  All three years of Habitat for Humanity project participation were sponsored by LeasePlan USA, who is providing t-shirts and bottled water for the volunteers as well as paying for their lunch and transportation to the project. In addition, LeasePlan will be making a contribution to Charlotte Habitat for Humanity to help them continue their work throughout the year.

“At LeasePlan, we pride ourselves on supporting local charities and philanthropic projects, such as Habitat for Humanity, through our company-wide community outreach program,” explained Michael Pitcher, President and CEO of LeasePlan USA. “When NAFA began offering this opportunity two years ago when the I&E was in New Orleans, I knew we had to get involved. Since I am a native of New Orleans, the project to restore New Orleans was very near and dear to my heart. It was such an amazing experience that LeasePlan has continued to sponsor and participate in the Habitat projects every year since. We are grateful to NAFA for offering this opportunity to attendees of the I&E and look forward to participating in future projects.”

NAFA volunteers and employees of LeasePlan will assist the Charlotte Habitat for Humanity on Friday, April 8. Buses will depart from the Charlotte Westin at 7:30 a.m. and take the volunteers to the project where they will work until 4 p.m. Along with  providing a little sweat labor, NAFA will also make a contribution to help continue Habitat’s ongoing mission.

In addition to supporting NAFA’s annual Habitat for Humanity project, LeasePlan USA regularly supports organizations such as the Atlanta Children’s Shelter; Susan G. Komen; BEATS, Inc.; Shelter, Inc.; Autism Speaks; and Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation.
