PARIS, FRANCE - To stimulate demand for electric vehicles, European automaker PSA Peugeot Citroen plans to introduce leasing programs that will include gasoline-powered loaners for trips beyond the reach of a single EV battery charge, Bloomberg reported.

The Citroen division's new leasing programs will reportedly be available for the C-Zero electric city car along with combustion-engine models.

Mitsubishi Motors Corp. builds the iOn and C-Zero for Peugeot Citroen. The French automaker plans 7,000 combined deliveries of the iOn and C-Zero in 2011, with sales climbing to 30,000 annually by 2015.
