MONTVALE, NJ - Downsizing is becoming popular at Mercedes-Benz's AMG department. The creator of high-performance Mercedes-Benz' recently added a 5.5L V8 Biturbo engine for the Mercedes-Benz CL 63 AMG - that same engine now makes its debut in the new 2011 Mercedes-Benz S 63 AMG.

Mated to a AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 7-speed sports transmission, the 2011 S 63 AMG produces a total of 571-hp and a maximum torque of 664 lb.-ft. That allows 0 to 62 mph to come in just 4.5 seconds with a top speed of 155 mph (electronically limited). Adding the AMG Performance Package for the 2011 Mercedes-Benz S 63 AMG allows it to hit 62 mph in 4.4 seconds, while top speed is increased to 186 mph.

The AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 7-speed transmission also helps towards an increase fuel-economy. The 2011 Mercedes-Benz S 63 AMG averages 22 mpg.
