SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA - SK Energy said it has reached a deal to supply rechargeable lithium-ion batteries to Hyundai Motor and Kia Motors for electric vehicles, Reuters reported. 

SK Energy said that Hyundai Motor and Kia Motors would soon test 30 electric vehicles for mass production later this year. A new electric vehicle based upon Kia's automobiles is slated for launch in 2011. 

SK Energy specializes in oil exploration and production as well as the development of batteries for electric cars.
