MONTVALE, NJ - Coming to showrooms in August, the new Mercedes-Benz R-Class features a hood, fenders, grille, headlamps, and bumper that have been redone to give the vehicle what Mercedes calls an "arrow shaped" front end, according to USA Today.

The grille is higher and more steeply raked. The sides were given more "coupe-like" lines, Mercedes says, with larger outside mirrors. Lots of changes in the rear as well, with a new bumper design, tail lights, integrated tailpipes, according to USA Today. The taillights not only have LEDs, but fiber optic effects as well.

In the U.S., the R-Class will come in either six-seat or seven-seat configurations. The rear seat can handle three child safety seats.

The R-Class will come in both six-cylinder diesel and conventional gas versions. Mercedes says the R350 BlueTEC 4MATIC will be as clean emission-wise as a gas engine, but will deliver 18 miles per gallon in the city, 24 mpg on the highway from its 210 horsepower diesel engine. The gas version has a 268-horsepower engine and gas mileage of 14 mpg city, 19 on the highway, according to USA Today.
