SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA - Hyundai Motor Co. announced a voluntary recall of the 2010 Sonata sedan to fix latches on the car's front doors.

The recall affects 1,300 vehicles in the U.S. and 46,000 in South Korea.

The latch can get stuck after the door is opened, making it difficult to close the door. The problem occurs when a passenger simultaneously pulls the door latch and holds down the lock, a company representative told the Wall Street Journal

The defect has resulted in no accidents or injuries, the automaker said. New latches for the doors are expected to arrive at Hyundai dealerships this week.

The recall will begin in March. The repair will be made at no expense to vehicle owners.
