WASHINGTON - Honda is recalling 141,000 MY 2007-2008 Fit vehicles because of a problem with the driver's power window switch.

Under severe conditions, water may enter the driver's window and reach the master power window switch. If that switch is damaged as a result of the water, overheating and failure of the switch may result, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. An overheated switch can cause smoke, melting or fire.

Dealers will inspect the switch and install a cover around the switch housing to prevent water from entering. Any damaged switches will be replaced and a cover will be installed. This service will be performed free of charge.

Vehicle owners can reach Honda at (800) 999-1009.
