DETROIT - Ford Motor Company reported fleet sales increased 23 percent for the month of September. On the retail side, sales were down 14 percent for last month.

Of all the Ford brands, "the 2010 Taurus in the last couple of months has had the best sales figures," according to a statement by George Pipas, Ford sales analyst.

The automaker's September sales report showed Taurus sales totaled 5,077 vehicles, up 60 percent versus a year ago and 49 percent higher than August.

In addition, Ford's F-Series truck posted its second consecutive sales increase in September (up 4 percent), according to Ford. 

Ford's sales for August, including fleet customer deliveries, totaled 176, 323 - up 17 percent compared to last year.
