SAN FRANCISCO --- Toyota Motor Sales USA said it was recalling about 134,900 Yaris vehicles sold in the United States.

The recall was prompted by concerns that a defect could cause a foam pad near the selt belt to ignite during a collision, the Los Angeles Times reported. The recall only affects 2006 and 2007 model-year Yaris cars. So far, there have been no reported injuries resulting from this problem.

On a global basis, Toyota's Yaris recall affects 1.3 million vehicles.
