EDEN PRAIRIE, MN GE Capital Solutions Fleet Services' Mobile Resource Management via telematics solution has been recognized by the Minnesota High Tech Association (MHTA) as a finalist for its Tekne Award in the category of Technology Services. The Tekne Awards honor advancement in Minnesota's technology industry in the areas of advanced manufacturing, information and medical technologies, and biological sciences.

GE's telematics solution is an integrated resource that provides visibility into the location and use of fleet vehicles to identify factors affecting operating costs and service delivery. The solution allows fleet managers to simultaneously access vehicle and driver-related information, including key metrics such as total distance driven, fuel use, drive time, speeding, idling, and CO2 emissions. The system also streamlines planning and scheduling for improved productivity. Customers report savings between $1,440 and $4,800 in fuel costs per vehicle per year.

"Telematics solutions provides the asset usage insights and other key business intelligence our customers need to optimize their vehicles, increase driver productivity and reduce operations expense. It's rewarding to be recognized for our leadership role in developing this technology solution to enhance fleet management," said Stephen Ulanoski, general manager telematics, GE Capital Solutions Fleet Services.

The 2008 Tekne Awards will be presented Thursday, Oct. 30 at the Minneapolis Convention Center.
