WASHINGTON, D.C. --- Ford Motor Co. is recalling 64,754 model-year 2008 F-250 and F-350 4x4 pickup trucks because of a fuel system problem.

In the event of a frontal impact collision, these vehicles could pose a fire risk. The fuel tank could move forward and contact a frame cross member, potentially causing damage to the fuel delivery module and causing fuel spillage, according to a report on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration website. In the presence of an ignition source, that fuel spillage could result in a fire.

Ford dealers will install a bracket on the affected vehicles free of charge. The recall is expected to begin on or before May 26. Vehicle owners may contact Ford at (800) 392-3673.
