PIERRE, S.D. --- Roy Meyer, former director of South Dakota's Office of Highway Safety, has been fined and given a suspended 30-day jail sentence for driving under the influence. The 53-year-old pleaded guilty to first-offense DUI in court on Nov. 27. Magistrate Judge Mark Smith ordered Meyer to pay a $500 fine and court costs. Meyer was placed on probation for 12 months and his driver's license was revoked for 30 days, the AP reported. Meyer was arrested Oct. 23 and resigned from his position.
