CHERRY HILL, N.J. – Consumer Reports has announced its recommended vehicles for 2008 at a press conference in Detroit. Subaru and Honda are the only two manufacturers whose vehicles are automatically recommended by the magazine. For 2007, Consumer Reports had listed manufacturers, the third being Toyota. However, Toyota has lost its recommended manufacturer status for 2008.

Consumer Reports surveys its readership and receives 1 million responses to its vehicle ownership questionnaire. It bases its recommended status on a combination of reliability, safety, performance, ergonomics, and customer satisfaction.
