VELVA, N.D. --- Archer Daniels Midland Co. (ADM) last week opened a new biodiesel production facility here next to its existing canola seed-crushing facility.
In Europe, ADM is a leader in biodiesel production. But in the U.S., ADM is known primarily for its ethanol production, according to grainnet.com.
"The opening of this biodiesel facility is the next step on a journey that will strengthen rural economies, reduce overall pollution and improve the energy security of our nation and our world," said John Rice, company executive vice president of commercial production.
ADM is also a partner in Mid-America Biofuels LLC, which operates a biodiesel plant in Mexico, Mo. In Europe, ADM runs a major biodiesel plant in Hamburg, Germany.
