BERKELEY, Calif. --- City leaders in Berkeley announced the city's intent to purchase a fleet of plug-in hybrid vehicles once automakers begin producing these cars commercially.
According to the Bay City News Wire, Berkeley's "soft order" for 40 plug-in hybrids is similar to Marin County's recent decision to purchase 22 plug-in hybrid vehicles.
Other cities expressing interest in the fuel-efficient vehicles are San Francisco, Alameda and Oakland, the Bay City News Wire reported.
