LOS ANGELES, CA
– Global Mobile Alert Corp’s MyMobileAlert Safety System warns the user via an alert cell-phone sound when driving within 300 feet of an approaching traffic signal,
according to Telematics Update.
Inventor Demetrius Thompson designed the safety system after being involved in two automobile accidents in which drivers were using cell phones at the time of impact. Thompson currently has three related patent filings for the safety system.
The Linux-based software-only solution can be downloaded directly onto a GPS-enabled cell-phone by the cellular service provider. Interaction with the software is not required by the user. The software runs in the background on the phone. The City of Los Angeles tested and endorsed the system in March last year and is working with Thompson to deploy it.
