Following the debut of the all-new 2005-model Ford Five Hundred sedan this fall, Ford Division is looking at dropping the Crown Victoria from its retail lineup and making it available only to fleets. According to Ford Division, the decision on the future of the Crown Victoria will be made in the next 12 to 18 months. The overwhelming majority of Crown Victoria models are sold to police departments, taxi companies, and government fleet operations. Of the the 78,500 Crown Victoria models sold in calendar year 2003, almost 60,000 were sold to fleets.
