Using telematics services would cut fleet managers' operating costs by 7 percent to 17 percent, says Martin Leach, a Ford of Europe vice president, it was reported in Automotive News. Leach made the comments last week at a telematics conference in Stuttgart. By offering services such as mileage reports, route scheduling, and vehicle tracking, fleet managers can cut costs relating to maintenance, fuel, and wages, he said. Leach called for greater standardization in telematics software across the auto industry to lower costs.
