David Hansen, general manager, GM Fleet and Commercial Operations (FCO), was recognized along with his entire sales, service and marketing team for their efforts to introduce OnStar to fleet and commercial markets during the 2001-model year. Hansen received an authentic Batman Batarang from Fritz Beiermeister, executive director of marketing operations for OnStar. Over the past few years, GM Fleet and Commercial Operations has worked with OnStar and performed extensive research of the commercial customer needs. As a result of the research from the FCO marketing team, GM introduced OnStar to the professional business traveler in a broad array of GM vehicles for the 2002-model year. A variety of special packages and order processes also were developed to meet specific fleet and commercial business needs. For the 2002-vehicle model year, commercial customers can select OnStar with OnStar Personal Calling (OPC) that provides hands-free voice activated dialing. OPC is fully integrated into the design of the car or truck and includes a new feature called Virtual Advisor. Virtual Advisor provides access to the Internet and gives the business driver traffic information on demand, weather forecasts, and audible e-mail, among many other information services.
