This year, Fleet Expo 2001 is fine-tuned to be even bigger and better than Fleet Expo 2000. Industry experts from different segments of the fleet world are being brought together Sept. 23-25, 2001, at the Rosemont Convention Center in Rosemont, IL, to provide answers to those questions that plague most fleet and maintenance managers and their bosses. About 1,000 participants are expected to attend this year’s conference. Ray Meyer, Hall of Fame basketball coach of DePaul University, will give the opening address, “Winning Ways,” on Monday, Sept. 24, 2001. Attendees will also get the opportunity to meet David Leisure, aka Joe Isuzu, who will make an appearance at Fleet Expo 2001. Educational seminars will be divided into three professional tracks: basic management, operational intelligence, and government and utility fleets. Among the seminars will be two panel discussions on best practices in fuel management and accident management. In the operational intelligence track, Russ Cass of Piemonte National Fleet in Melrose, IL, will speak on “Truck Spec’ing and Ordering: How to Save Huge Dollars.” Cass’ seminar on truck spec’ing at Fleet Expo 2000 was one of the most highly attended sessions. Fleet Expo 2001 will highlight the world’s largest ride-and-drive, featuring a wide selection of makes and the latest 2002 models. Attendees will have the opportunity to participate in a special hands-on session on telematics. Fleet Expo 2001 will also feature the presentation of the second annual Fleet Upfitter Innovation Award, which recognizes the outstanding achievements in design and engineering of upfitting truck bodies in the past year.
