Johnson Industries (JI), a wholesale distributors of original equipment automotive parts and a wholly owned subsidiary of Genuine Parts Co., has signed a three-year agreement with UPS to supply automotive parts to the more than 700 UPS vehicle maintenance facilities nationwide. The agreement provides the parts and equipment to ensure that thousands of delivery and support vehicles are maintained efficiently. JI’s stock has more than 85,000 part numbers that helps ensure that most items required by UPS will be in stock at the time of order. Items will be shipped to the central United Parcel Service Materials Distribution Center (MDC) in Nashville from JI headquarters in Atlanta, as well as from its 11 other regional distribution centers, via UPS. JI also will provide emergency parts needs for all individual UPS vehicle maintenance locations. With the signing of this new agreement, UPS gains access to an EDS system created specifically for UPS that will yield efficiency gains for the UPS MDC staff.
