DEARBORN, Mich. --- During a speech at the Automotive News World Congress, General Motors CEO Rick Wagoner called for more government support for alternative fuel sources. Wagoner said the government should play a major role in advanced fuel cell research. Wagoner also advocated the use of tax credits, fuel subsidies and other measures to give consumers incentive to move to alternative fuel technologies, according to an Associated Press report. It's important that the government continue to focus on promoting energy diversity, and not revert back to old energy policy, at a time when oil prices are dropping, Wagoner stressed.
