WASHINGTON, D.C. --- Wal-Mart executives last week met in the nation’s capital to discuss alternative fuels with leaders in government, industry and the academic world. The world’s biggest retailer is particularly interested in ethanol’s potential to power the company’s huge truck fleet, according to a report in Agriculture Online. Having one of the largest private truck fleets in the world, Wal-Mart has good reason to explore alternative fuel use, company spokesman Kevin Gardner told Agriculture Online. The summit also addressed the possibility that the retailer begin selling E-85, a blend of 85 percent ethanol and 15 percent gasoline, at the company’s gas stations. However, Gardner said the company hasn’t made a decision on this yet.
