IRVINE, CA — In J.D. Power and Associates’ Initial Quality Study, based on responses from more than 62,000 purchasers and lessees of new 2005 model-year cars and trucks, who were surveyed after 90 days of ownership, Jaguar rose from third in 2004 to rank second overall, a 10 percent improvement over last year's results, and maintained its position as the highest-ranking European manufacturer. Jaguar's best performing model was the X-TYPE sedan. The X-TYPE has improved by 37 problems per 100 vehicles in the study, or 35 percent over last year's results. In addition, Jaguar's Halewood plant, where the X-TYPE is manufactured, received the gold award for European plant performance. Halewood's state of the art facility is a center of excellence for lean manufacturing, a discipline that focuses on elimination of waste, while driving high quality, continuous improvement.
