AUBURN HILLS, MI — The Chrysler Group reported on March 1 that February U.S. sales were 185,643 units, an increase of 8 percent compared with February 2004, and the 11th consecutive month of year-over-year sales increases. Chrysler brand vehicle sales increased 36 percent to a February record 53,575 units. February sales of the Chrysler 300 were 12,665 units, an increase of 25 percent from the previous year, as the 300 continued to captivate the public and attract new customers to the Chrysler brand. February was the 10th consecutive month of sales more than 10,000 units for the vehicle. Sales of the Chrysler PT Cruiser increased 10 percent to 8,997 units. Sales of Chrysler Group minivans increased 10 percent, led by the Chrysler Town & Country, whose sales increased 38 percent. Dodge brand sales improved 2 percent, led by a 32 percent increase in Durango sales. Jeep brand sales were down 8 percent. Jeep Liberty sales declined slightly by 3 percent when compared with last year, but were up 37 percent compared with January 2005 sales.
