Manheim’s Detroit Auto Auction hosted the largest-ever Chrysler auction Oct 14 to celebrate 40 years of Manheim and DaimlerChrysler remarketing. In all, 351 Chrysler dealers purchased all of the 2,048 vehicles offered for sale for a total value in excess of $30 million. The sale was dubbed the “Home Run Derby Championship Event” and featured a variety of promotions and giveaways, including tickets to the 2004 World Series, a 1964 Chrysler 300, and four all-inclusive trips to Los Cabos, Mexico. Dealers across the country bid on the vehicles via Simulcast, and others participated from the Manheim DRIVE Center bidding theater in Atlanta, where digital photos and detailed descriptions of the vehicles were displayed via flat-screen projection. In all, dealers purchased 450 vehicles online via Simulcast and 1,598 onsite at the auction.
