The Insurance Institute for Highway safety has recognized the 2020 Genesis G90 with its highest honor, a Top Safety Pick+ award.

To earn the award, the Genesis G90 aced six rigorous crashworthiness tests, capturing good ratings across the board. These included the driver-side small overlap front, passenger-side small overlap front, moderate overlap front, side, roof strength and head restraint tests.

However, to qualify for “plus” status, vehicles also need advanced or superior ratings for both vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-pedestrian front crash prevention, as well as an acceptable or good rating for all its available headlight options.

In both cases, the G90 did not disappoint. Its crash front prevention system, which comes standard, is designed to recognize both vehicles and pedestrians—and the system stood up to IIHS standards. The G90 garnered a superior rating for vehicle-to-vehicle interactions, and an advanced rating for pedestrian front crash prevention.

Finally, good-rated LED projector headlights come standard on the G90—giving the large luxury car the final element it needed to roll away with the Institute’s top honor.
