Toyota is recalling an estimated 695,000 vehicles because the low-pressure fuel pump inside the fuel tank of these vehicles may fail.

Specifically, the recall includes 2018-2019 Toyota 4Runner, Highlander, Camry, Land Cruiser, Sequoia, Sierra, Tacoma and Tundra and 2019 Toyota Avalon and Corolla.

The recall also affects several Lexus models such as the 2018-2019 RC 300, RC 350, GS 350, GX 460, IS 300, LC 500, LX 570, RX 350 and 2019 Lexus NX 300, ES 350, and GS 200T vehicles

In the event the fuel pump fails, the engine can stall while driving which increases the likelihood of a collision.

The remedy for this recall is still under development. All known owners of the affected vehicles should receive a notification of the recall by mail by mid-March.

Owners can reach Toyota customer service at (888) 270-9371 or Lexus customer service at (800) 255-3987.

Toyota's reference numbers for this recall are 20TB02 and 20TA02 for Toyota vehicles and 20LB01 and 20LA01 for Lexus vehicles.
