Automotive Fleet’s 2018 Edward J. Bobit Professional Fleet Manager of the Year Phil Samuelson, fleet and capital asset manager at USIC, recently issued a $5,000 scholarship check to Bentley University, which was donated by the Automotive Fleet & Leasing Association (AFLA).

“I wanted to award the scholarship to Bentley because I was impressed with the school and its past affiliation with AFLA,’” said Samuelson.

The scholarship was provided by AFLA, which co-sponsors the annual AF Edward J. Bobit Professional Fleet Manager of the Year award with Wheels Inc. As part of its co-sponsorship, AFLA provides the Fleet Manager of the Year Award winners a $5,000 scholarship to bestow upon the business school of their choice.

“This gift of $5,000 will provide critical scholarship support to deserving Bentley students. Scholarships enable our students to take full advantage of all of the elements of a Bentley education – best-in-class business education integrated with liberal arts, internships, study abroad, community service and career services. We are extremely grateful for this generous, and unexpected, gift,” said Maureen E. Flores, vice president of Bentley University Advancement.

The AF Professional Fleet Manager of the Year Award was created by Automotive Fleet to recognize an experienced and proficient fleet manager who has demonstrated special business acumen in developing and executing key management policies in all areas. Nominees of the honor must be full-time commercial fleet managers and control a company-owned or leased fleet in excess of 100 cars and light trucks combined.
