General Motors will enter the electric pickup market in 2021 when its first electric pickup goes on sale, according to a news story from CNBC.
GM's CEO Mary Barra shared this new detail in an investor conference Thursday.
An earlier Reuters report stated that GM had plans to build multiple electric pickup truck and SUV models, but GM has not confirmed that information.
It appears that buyers interested in electric trucks will have several options to choose from in the next couple years. Ford announced plans for an electric F-150 earlier this year, Tesla is announcing its pickup today, and Rivian showed off concepts for its electric truck late last year.
