Hyundai has begun producing its 2020 Sonata, which enters its eighth generation and appeared at the Miami International Auto Show on Nov. 1.

The midsize sedan, which was unveiled to the North American market at the New York auto show in April, adds several new features, including a digital key that allows a driver to unlock the vehicle from a smartphone.

"The 2020 Sonata is a fully transformed vehicle packed with advanced personalization technology, a new platform and an array of safety technologies," said Mike O'Brien, vice president of product, corporate, and digital planning for Hyundai Motor America. "We are confident that our customers will be pleasantly surprised by this innovative new model."

Production has begun at Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama, and retail sales will commence later this month.
