General Motors is recalling an estimated 166 2020 Chevrolet Equinox compact SUVs for a brake issue. Specifically, the rear brake calipers may have been produced with an incorrect lubricant, potentially causing the rubber seals to swell and the brakes to drag.

Brake drag can result in overheating of the brake pads, affecting the braking ability and increasing the likelihood of a collision.

To fix the problem, GM will notify owners, and dealers will replace the rear brake calipers, including the brake hose gasket, brake fluid and wheel to hub lubricant, at no cost to owners. The automaker has not yet released a notification schedule.

Owners can reach Chevrolet customer service at (800) 630-2438. GM's reference number for this recall is N192270920.
