Electrify America finished construction of a new charging station in New York, marking its sixth station to open along the New York State Thruway in less than a year.
The stations, located approximately 80 miles apart and featuring a total of 20 chargers, provide access to ultra-fast EV charging for drivers on the high-traffic route that connects New York City and other major cities in the state including Buffalo, Syracuse, and Albany, according to release from the company. More than 250 million vehicles travel the thruway annually.
Electrify America has plans to install additional chargers in New York in the coming months and will shortly bring the total number of Electrify America charging stations in the state to 10.
Between 2019 and 2021, Electrify America plans to make its largest investment in ultra-fast charging stations within the New York City metro region, building an additional 12-18 new stations. Electrify America has also identified Interstate 81 as a regionally significant corridor along which to add ultra-fast charging stations.
