Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC is recalling approximately 26,584 2018 to 2019 C300, C300 4Matic, and C43 AMG 4Matic entry-luxury sedans because the mounting bracket for the 12-volt battery may not be properly secured.
This scenario means the battery can potentially shift, possibly disconnecting the terminals in the event of a collision. Loss of battery power can impair post-crash functions, such as communicating with emergency services and activating hazard lights.
In addition, the battery can possibly detach, becoming a road hazard. Both scenarios can increase the risk of injury.
To fix the problem, MBUSA will notify owners, and dealers will replace the battery mounting bracket, at no cost to owners. The recall begins Oct. 8. Owners can reach MBUSA customer service at (800) 367-6372.
